This is a story about a guy who falls in love with a stripper/prostitute.

Honest.

While it's not true in the sense that I've personally done that, I have had the profound sense and foresight to fall for some rather troubled girls, and at a lot of levels the same feelings overlap, I'd imagine.

Since being introduced to MySpace, I've seen a lot of pictures of a lot of people – and a lot of pictures of a lot of girls with not a lot of clothing on. This song got its opening line (and in fact, the whole concept of the song was borne out of that one phrase) from one of those very pictures: a girl's picture carried the caption "She wants to hear she's beautiful." It broke my heart, because I suppose everybody wants to hear that.
