Advice For My Daughter: You Can Do Anything A Boy Can Do

Posted by on Aug 27, 2013 in Life | No Comments

As much as it pains my deeply idealistic heart to write, there will someday come a time when a boy will somehow indicate to you that you are inferior to him in some way, simply because you were born a girl.

Here’s all you need to know about that:

It is complete and utter bullshit.

There is nothing a boy can do that you can’t. Absolutely nothing.

There’s something else I want you to remember, though: just because you can does not mean you should feel the need to forever prove that you can do the stuff boys can do. No; it’s much more important that you find the thing you were meant to do and do whatever that thing is amazingly well.

I guess what I’m saying is: try not to waste too much time trying to prove stuff to other people. This is hard, but you will get better at it with practice. And your mom and I will help you do this however we can.

Just know that if you wanted to, you could do ___________, whatever it is.
